Frequently Asked Questions

How to clean sediment from water lines?

There is no point in trying to clean out your water lines if you do not clean out your faucet’s aerator first. If you want to try and DIY the process, follow these steps: Lay a towel over your sink’s drain. Unscrew your faucet’s tip. Keep in mind that the aerator has three parts so pay attention to how they go together when you take it off. Rinse all 3 parts with water and reassemble. Repeat this process for all your faucets. After you are done with the aerators, you can start with the water lines. Open 3 or 4 faucets at full force on cold water. Leave the faucets running for 20 minutes. If your water is not clear after this, wait 30 minutes and repeat the process.

how to descale water lines?

Turn off your hot water heater. Attach a hose to the bottom valve of your water heater and drain about 2 gallons of water. Pour 2 gallons of white vinegar into your hot water tank. Turn your hot water heater back on and turn on your hot water faucets around the house. Allow them to run until you smell vinegar. Once you smell vinegar, shut them off and do not use them for 6 hours. This allows the vinegar to work in your pipes. Afterwards, turn on your faucets and flush out the vinegar.

How to find the main water line to your house?

Locate your water meter and the point where the line enters the house. Typically, the underground water line runs between these two points. If you have a leak, the soil above it may be damp.

How much does it cost to replace a water line?

The cost varies depending upon your needs, but the national average cost for replacing a main line with PVC using trenchless installation is $2,250. For an accurate estimate for your home, schedule a consultation with us.

What causes air in water lines?

The most common causes include leaks, malfunctioning valves, air pockets created through heating water, and a well pump that is unable to draw adequate water.
